I would like to get your help on the following if I can. The information will be used to publish an article relevant to this firearm.
I am attempting to do some research by example on the Australian small action Cadet Martini rifles. The criteria at this time is that it must have a Kangaroo stamp on the top of the receiver. It is my hope that by accumulating this information that I can make sense of the deployment and variations of this style firearm.
As you might be aware there were numerous stamps and markings other than standard proof marks on these rifles. The numbers on the barrel, on the receiver and on the butt stock tell much about this rifle. Needless to say the lettering and markings are important too along with whether it is a BSA or Greener or ????
If you have any rifles that meet this criteria I would be interested in gathering the information that you can supply. Any other information that you have would also be useful.
If this is a conversion to a modern caliber I would also be interested in the receiver info (and what caliber you had it converted to. Just nosey). If there is a lone butt stock in your cabinet I would like to know its marks. Of equal interest is the type site that the barrel has along with the serial number on that barrel. There are two sites known at this time. One is 1 3/4" long and the other 2 3/4". The longer one has protective ears on top and finer adjustments.
For the real curious and optional..... if you take the action apart., do the numbers inside match the numbers outside.
Documentation on the Australian training rifle is scarce. Your help in supplying information would be greatly appreciated.
For example:
Receiver marked - 8183 - N.S.W. - 6690
Barrel Marked - 8183 - Short site
Butt Stock marking - 6690 - 08/12 -N.S.W. - C.M.F.
or
Receiver marked - 248
